Breakfast. Full day dedicated to visiting the capital of the Nabataeans, probably the most scenic ancient city in the world. It is reached after having crossed the "siq", a narrow gorge bordered by very high cliffs, along the way you can see obelisk-shaped sculptures accompanied by various inscriptions, traces of the ancient pavement and remains of the channel dug into the rock. We will visit splendid monuments such as the "Treasury": its name derives from the legend according to which an Egyptian pharaoh decided to hide his treasure here. The most fascinating element is the facade, the interior consists only of an unadorned square room, with a smaller room at the back. The "Monastery" has a very similar style to the Treasury, but its dimensions are considerably larger. The Roman theater, an 8,000-seat amphitheater, was originally believed to have been built after the defeat of the Nabataeans by the Romans in 106 ae, while it is now believed that the Nabataeans themselves carved it out of the rock at the time of Christ, destroying many caves and graves during the works. The facade that includes the three tombs is sometimes also called the Wall of the Kings. The tombs were carved directly into the rock and the designs are truly amazing. Lunch inside the site.
